TYPE: Shonen

Forget about your “Skip Beat!” manga for a while now. Now, how about Kekkaishi for an anime?
I’ve been watching Kekkaishi for quite a while now. Kekkaishi is a work by Tanabe Yellow, and was made into anime (manga is serialized by Shogakukan in Japan) since around October 2006. I enjoy this anime very much, and since it is not too popular yet then I feel like I couldn’t be better off without recommending this anime to fellow anime fans who haven’t yet watched this anime.
I started watching this anime after being recommended by someone on my previous anime forum some while ago. And I have been watching it since. If you are into Shonen type anime plus some comedy, I believe your gonna like this one.
What is the story about? It’s a story of a 15 year old Yoshimori Sumimura, who was chosen as a “legitimate successor” from the family to guard Karasumori’s land. The land, is believed to have an unbelievable power in which an Ayakashi (spirit, bad spirit) that enters the land would absorb the power of the land and become really strong itself.
So since Yoshimori was a small child, he had to guard the Karasumori’s land with the “kekkai” (barrier) power that he has inherited from the previous “legitimate successor” of the family, his grandfather. Even though there are other siblings in Yoshimori’s family and he’s not the eldest, because of a tattoo-like sign which appeared naturally on his palm, he was considered as the “legitimate successor”.
That’s not all there is though, there is also another family that argued they are the true legitimate successor who need to guard Karasumori’s land because of the tattoo-like sign which also appeared on their chests. This family is a Yukimura family, who have been arguing with Sumimura family for more than 400 years of the title “legitimate successor” who needed to guard Karasumori’s land.
Now for the lighter part, Yoshimori, who has been guarding the land together with the “legitimate successor” from Yukimura family, Tokine Yukimura, since they were both little, is actually having a secret crush on Tokine Yukimura herself.
As this series is still ongoing in Japan by the time I’m writing this, you sure are gonna see lots more in this anime. So why not go try watch the first episode of this anime, will ya? ![]()
